The Monday Feature – The Filigree Garden!

The Filigree Garden is a lovely ETSY shop that gives us a garden of wonders, always a’bloom with unique and lovingly handcrafted jewelry, accessories, and gifts all inspired by the wonderful natural world around us.

The proprietor of this delightful shop shares that her limited edition jewelry and sewn items often blend repurposed and vintage pieces with new elements, creating charming and beautiful works of art for today.

From The Filigree Garden’s ETSY profile we read we learn that filigree means "An intricate, delicate, or fanciful ornamentation." (The Free Dictionary)

The proprietor also shares “When I was little, I loved to rummage through my mom's jewelry drawer. It always seemed like a treasure chest to me. Even the little odds and ends and broken bits at the bottom were magical gems. I still love to see what wonderful pieces I can find in my travels to thrift stores and yard sales. Combine this treasure-hunter part of me with my need to create things and a love of the natural world, and voila! The Filigree Garden was born. All items in the shop are designed and created by me in my smoke-free workshop. Many of the items here contain an element that has been rescued from a broken or vintage piece of jewelry. They are "mature" and so, not perfect. They may show some patina of age, but that is part of their beauty. However, earrings will always have new earwires, and necklaces will receive new clasps when needed.”

The Filigree Garden makes many one-of-a-kind pieces which can't be duplicated, and is always happy to create something special for you! Look at these lovely listings –

This first pair of earrings is called “Josephine In Her Garden.” The listing description indicates, “Josephine was always content in her garden amidst the many colors of the flowers. These colorful earrings reflect the rainbow of hues Josephine admired as she walked the garden paths. Taking center stage are turquoise glass melon beads accompanied by antique-brass metal spacer beads shaped like flowers. In the crown of each earring is a gold Swarovski pearl; at the foot is a wreath of multi-colored rhinestones rescued from a forgotten pair of earrings. Findings and leverback earwires are brass with an oxidized finish. Fit for a queen but with a little whimsy!”

And how about these luscious rose petals! “These "petals" are made of vintage lucite in a swirl of pinks and soft reds. Clear Czech glass beads with an AB (Aurora Borealis) finish are cupped on either side by tiny textured metal bead caps in a silver tone.”

And for the budget conscious among us, there are the “Bead Buds” offerings. "Bead Buds" are part of The Filigree Garden's new collection of earrings that are priced at $10 or less, and are simple but stylish little blossoms for your ears! With a purchase of multiple Bead Buds, The Filigree Garden provides a discount as well.

This picture is of the "Sundrops" earrings, which combine brass teardrop beads, clear gold-amber Czech rounds, and fluted brass bead caps. The earwires are handmade from red brass and given an oxidized finish.

With all these wonderful garden treasures, it is absolutely delightful to spend some time browsing at The Filigree Garden. Stop on over and take a wonder through this fanciful garden – and remember to tell them thewildhare sent you!
